The Henry Ford & the Community
The Henry Ford partners with over 130 community-based organizations that provide direct social services to underserved and underrepresented clientele in the metropolitan Detroit area. Through these partnerships, The Henry Ford provides free general daytime admission to all three campuses, networking opportunities and access to resources that may further support the mission of our partner organizations.
Community Impact
The Henry Ford is a registered 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. Each revenue dollar from a special event is used to continue the work of The Henry Ford including research, education, and exhibition development. The buildings, artifacts and documents that Henry Ford collected serve as the bedrock of the institution’s vast, growing and continually evolving collections to this day. Your contributions help preserve and activate over 26 million objects and documents all helping to inspire others to learn from the past to help make a better future.
In addition to our preservation efforts we are collaborating internally and externally to spotlight new stories and new facets of our shared American experience for growing audiences of designers and researchers as well as the general public through our ongoing digitization effort. Through your help we are making our artifacts and content from the Archive of American Innovation more accessible to more people in more ways than ever.
Accessibility, after all, isn’t only a matter of showing the objects themselves but also a matter of the language and concepts used to introduce and explain them — the jumping off points for telling stories, engaging people, helping them to make personal connections, and then taking them on a journey to somewhere new.
