Indianapolis-based Stutz Motor Car Company made a name in racing. Its slogan, "The Car That Made Good in a Day," referred to a Stutz car's strong performance in the 1911 Indianapolis 500. This photo shows a Stutz chasing speed records at Maine's Old Orchard Beach in 1912. The driver is believed to be Dave Lewis, himself a four-time Indy 500 competitor.
