The Immortal Lincoln Special Screening & Conversation
Thursday, Nov 12, 7 p.m.
Doors open 6:30 p.m.
The Henry Ford's Giant Screen Experience will host a special one-night screening of The Immortal Lincoln, an independent documentary short film directed by C. John Anter and executive produced by Phoebe Wall Howard, automotive journalist and contributing car culture columnist for The Detroit News.
The event is being presented in partnership with the filmmakers and The Henry Ford as a community conversation centered on resilience, mental health, human connection, and the enduring legacy of the Lincoln brand.
Featuring a live performance by songwriter Jason Walsmith, who composed the film's score; a discussion with the filmmakers, Dr. Lindsay Bornheimer, University of Michigan mental health expert, and Matt Anderson, curator of transportation at The Henry Ford; and a live Q&A.
The film is an independent short documentary inspired by a USA Today Network story about Iowa newspaper publisher Douglas Burns and his 2013 Lincoln MKS. What begins as a story about an automobile becomes a deeply personal exploration of grief, resilience, mental health challenges, financial hardship and recovery.
Viewer Advisory
This film explores themes of resilience in the face of personal loss and hardship. It includes discussions of mental health challenges, depression, and suicidal ideation.
