Maserati Factory, Modena, Italy, circa 1955

Italian automaker Maserati was formed in 1914 and initially led by brothers Alfieri, Ettore, and Ernesto Maserati. The company began building race cars in 1926, and by the 1950s -- when this photo was taken -- its cars were dominant in Formula One and sports car competitions. This slide was mistakenly labeled as being taken at the factory of Maserati's nearby rival, Ferrari.
